All our goods from NZ arrived at our new place on Friday (yesterday), along with the new bed and dining setting we bought, and the fridge and washing machine we rented. Deidre spent the day yesterday sorting through a lot of the stuff and putting it away, and when I got home from work I put the table and the bed together. For a brief moment, I felt almost like a DIY enthusiast….
We spent some more of today unpacking and sorting, but it’s going to take quite a while to get ourselves sorted properly. I’d say another couple of weeks at the most, and that’s just sorting all the boxes from NZ and putting things away.
We still have a list of things we’re going to buy over the next few weeks. We’ve got a couple of package deals from Fantastic Furniture, which they’ve kindly let us pay off as we want the items. Yesterday we had the bed delivered from the bedroom package, as well as the 7-piece dining table and chairs from the dining/lounge package. The remainder includes:
- the rest of the bedroom package, which includes bedside tables, and a chest of drawers
- the rest of the dining/lounge package, which includes 2 and 3 seater couches, buffet, coffee table, and entertainment cabinet.
All of that will be over the next 2-3 weeks. Within that same period of time we’re also getting ourselves a large-screen plasma TV, so that we have something for Foxtel to be hooked up to on the 24th of May.
What’s most disturbing to me is that the phone and internet won’t be hooked up until the 9th of May. That’s a week without internet! I’m still waiting for my security clearance to come through at work, and until that does, I don’t have internet or email there either. It’s going to be rough, and I don’t know if I’m going to survive…
Hopefully you’ll be hearing from me after the 9th of May. Until then, have a great week!
