Time to rest

We finally arrived at Adelaide around 3:20pm, being picked up by Deidre’s dad. We’ve spent the afternoon talking and drinking beer, and Deidre’s been able to have a really good catch up with him.

I just wanted to place a few photos now, of the day’s events. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the day, most of the day has been spent on planes or in airports. This means I haven’t got many photos, and what little I took weren’t that good. Here’s three that help you see what I see.

G’day, welcome home

Oh, what a feeling to come back home again. To fly into Sydney and to see the coast, and then the city, and to realise I’ve come back home. To know that in the next few weeks, I’ll be catching up with family and friends who I haven’t seen for years.

My two brothers, who I haven’t seen for fourteen frackin’ years. FOURTEEN YEARS! I’ll be seeing them in two days time. My parents, who I haven’t seen in about 11 years. ELEVEN YEARS! I’ll be seeing them in 3 days time. Simon and Ben, two once-close friends, who I haven’t seen in about 13 years. I’ll be seeing them in two days time as well.

That’s just in the next week, and not including all the people I’lll be meeting in the 3 weeks after that, in Canberra and Sydney.

Anyway, here’s a photo of when we left Sydney, with a bit of the coastline and city suburbs, as we headed off to Adelaide. I wasn’t able to get a good photo of the city centre, including the Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House. However, there’s plenty of time to come where I’ll get better shots.

There were some magpies fighting in the backyard of Deidre’s dad this evening. There was a baby magpie, very submissive, cowering before the adult. It was absolutely hilarious, as the adult was telling it off and the baby just rolled over with its legs in the air, completely submissive.

I’m so damn knackered it’s not funny. In the past 48 hours I’ve had less than 3 hours sleep. The bbq is on and Deidre’s dad is cooking dinner. I’m about to go eat, and then I’m going to collapse into bed for the next 15 hours. Bye for now!
