As I’ve written about before, I’m a Scanner personality type. It means that I’m always exploring new things that I’m interested in, while hoping that something lasts longer than a few months. Most things I explore don’t last very long at all before I get bored and move on to something else. My life is full of experiments, trying new things and then discarding them when I find something more interesting.
From my experiences over the years, I’ve learned what my passions are, which are those things that I keep on returning to, day after day or week after week, because I love doing them. These include:
- writing, which I’ve been doing almost non-stop for the past 16 years
- photography, which I’ve been doing for almost the same time that I’ve been writing
- enjoying food, which I’ve also been doing the same time….
My passions in life include writing, photography, and food. It’s not a coincidence that I’m always taking photos of the food I eat. I love it!
Back in 2012-13 I tried to put them all together into a food blog, but I lost interest. I certainly enjoyed what I was doing, but there was something about it that didn’t keep me interested enough. Looking back on it, I suspect it was probably because I was going through a very trying time, and it was just something that faded away.
It came back to me today, though. I was thinking about my ‘Scanner experiments’, and thinking back on the food blogging a few years ago. While putting food together with photos and writing into a single blog didn’t work out at the time, I’ve continued doing it anyway, but without the writing. I still eat out a lot and love it. I still take food photos and love it. I just haven’t been writing about it.
I think I’m going to return to writing about it, and I’m going to take it maybe a bit more seriously than the last time. I’m going to look into being a better food critic, and a better food blogger. I’m going to do some more experimenting with this thing that I love doing, and see where it takes me.
I thought about integrating it into this blog, but I think it’ll be better to really just focus on a separate food blog instead, so that’s what I’ll do. Woohoo! Another new project!
